Keith Hansbrough is a Shareholder who practices in the area of employment litigation and counseling on behalf of private employers. His main area of concentration includes matter arising under The Americans with Disabilities Act, The Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII of The Civil Rights Act, Ohio's anti-discrimination laws (Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4112) and the Ohio Whistleblower Act. Mr. Hansbrough also has experience in the area of Workers' Compensation law through his representation of employers regarding appeals from the decisions of The Ohio Industrial Commission to common pleas court and retaliation claims.
In his ten years as an attorney, Mr. Hansbrough has successfully taken jury trials to verdict in both Ohio state court and U.S. District Court. In the appellate arena, Mr. Hansbrough has successfully drafted appellate briefs and orally argued before the Ohio Eighth District Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit on multiple occasions. During his representation of private employers, Mr. Hansbrough has also successfully defended charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC). He frequently counsels private entities on various employment discrimination and retaliation issues, such as employee discipline and termination. Mr. Hansbrough has also produced positive results in his representation of management during binding arbitrations.
Mr. Hansbrough has published and frequently delivers presentations on the rapidly evolving issue of the discovery of electronically store information under both Ohio State and federal law. As a compliment to his employment practice, Mr. Hansbrough also has extensive experience defending civil rights claims brought in U.S. District Court under 42 U.S.C. section 1983.
